If you follow us on social media, you know that we are focusing on the kitchen this week! I'll be sharing the cabinet design in a few days, and wanted to start out with the other parts of the design.
When deciding on appliances, the choice got overwhelming quickly. Anyone who's researched knows that there are a thousand options when it comes to brand, style, and price. Add in delays and limited access to stores in this past year... it's hard to figure out what you want!
Along the way we found a Facebook group call JUST ASK AL, and lemme tell you it made choosing our appliances a breeze. Al is a bit of an appliance expert from basic to high end brands, so I was able to get all of my questions answered before ordering. Regardless of where you're at in the process of planning or building it's worth getting expert advice! They're launching a YouTube channel in the next couple of months too. We're already subscribed and excited for the first video!
In the end we chose Cafe Appliances. We love the elevated look this line from GE provides with options that stayed in our budget. We are constantly using our kitchen and wanted every part of the design to be something we'd love using and seeing every day.
The Cafe line is offered in multiple finishes with additional hardware finish options. Our favorite combination is the Matte Black with the Brushed Black hardware.

This refrigerator is counter depth which has always been important to us. It functions really well for our family in that we don't forget about food in the back and it's never sticking too far out into our walkway.
There will be 2 dishwashers in the island, and that was one of the first "must haves" when we planned the build. We cook almost every meal and have always needed to run the dishwasher at least once a day. It is going to help make things easier when we are trying to juggle busy schedules and the desire to have a clean kitchen!
Most of you know that we have a delightfully large range in the canning kitchen. It's equipped with 6 burners and 2 ovens, so having just one oven in the main kitchen will be fine. The more ovens you have, wall units- it all increases the cost. We didn't feel like that was a place we wanted to spend extra money.
We ordered our appliances through PLESSER'S APPLIANCE. I worked with Steve who helped me make sure I wasn't missing anything, quickly quoted the package. He was very responsive to my calls and emails.
We've partnered with them to make this part of your project easy and convenient. They have a website, but it's best to just call them directly since they will price match and can order the brands you're looking in the model you want. They supply luxury brands and budget friendly options.
